Did you know GyroMax pioneered the use of a unique compact feeder reel system to survey production drill and blast holes using the SlimGyro back in 2016.
The GMX Feeder Reel pictured is our original workhorse unit which has been in full time use since then (I know, it doesn't look very pretty - but it just works and keeps on working). The picture also shows our WDT wireless continuous depth tracker system providing continuous depth readings directly back to the operator. Unlike other systems it is built into the body of the reel which is only possible due to it's small compact size. This complete system allows for super fast and reliable standard and continuous surveying of production holes. As a measure of the system's efficiency, we recently completed a 6,000m BlastGyro survey campaign in just 7 days at an average of more than 850 hole metres/day (1700 surveyed metres/day - every hole surveyed in and out for QAQC). It's incredibly fast. The all new High Speed TwinGyro is proving to be an absolute winner in terms of survey speed, accuracy and reliability. After a solid few months of field work since it's initial release at the PDAC in Toronto this year, the tool is outperforming it's competitors by a long way.
GyroMax have had the pleasure of running direct field comparisons against competitive tools with several clients, all reporting back fantastic results. The TwinGyro is now onsite and running smoothly. Our clients cannot believe how simple the TwinGyro is to use and especially how fast it is. Instead of completing two trips down the drill string, drillers now run once producing equivalent or better results in half the time. One customer went to the trouble of setting up an independently land surveyed test pipe to compare TwinGyro accuracy against other tools. Over 4 runs through the 124m pipe (4 runs = 8 independent surveys) our largest misclose from EOH target was just 0.6m (0.48%). It was reported that one of our competitors was as much as 3.5m from target. It is still early days. The market is liking what it sees and our tools are literally being snapped up as they arrive. We currently have a waiting list and are working our way through getting these tools to you as fast as we can. GyroMax are proud to introduce the all new TwinGyro™ from Inertial Sensing. The system is set to revolutionize directional hole surveying within the drilling industry. Put simply, TwinGyro™ cuts survey time in half. This latest dual-gyro technology now allows two independent surveys to be completed in a single trip of the borehole. Other gyro survey systems on the market require two runs or multiple on-station shots in order to produce QAQC compliant comparison data sets,. The TwinGyro™ is proving to be so efficient that drilling companies are now replacing their existing gyro and single shots with a single TwinGyro™ system., saving time and money. TwinGyro™ provides survey security. In the rare case that one system has been damaged, you can continue to operate the TwinGyro™ in single gyro mode, enabling your project to continue with zero lost downtime. The TwinGyro™ has a power consumption of only 0.4 W in dual mode operation. A delayed start mode allows the system to be initialized in 5 mW sleep mode for surveying after a pre-set time, such as in pump-down or drop survey scenarios. The all new TwinGyro™ is only available in Australia from GyroMax Contact Simon Williams or Lee Webb for more information GyroMax are proud to support the Raglan Drilling Geology Lecture Series event coming up on November 10th at the Hannans Club in Kalgoorlie. GyroMax utilise different systems depending on the individual projects needs and conditions at hand. In many cases it is possible to work directly from mine grid where mine surveyors provide highly accurate reference markers. This can be the simplest solution as there is no confusion as to the mine grid conversions and everyone is working off the same baseline data. However, there are also many occasions where this is not possible or the client prefers to work directly from a true north reference. The GyroMax +TrueNorth Referencing Survey System enables us to establish the starting collar direction to within +/- 0.2 degrees of true north azimuth, effectively producing a highly accurate true north based survey. The systems we use are industry leading, state-of-the-art, high tech, ring laser based systems that are both highly accurate and rugged. Some of the features include:

ApplicationsSo, where can this tiny gyro come into play?
In mining applications this means anything can now accurately be gyro surveyed with a single tool. RC and AirCore rigs, where the inner tubes can be as small as 32mm, can now easily be surveyed using the SlimGyro. Previously, these have been difficult to run a standard gyro through the rods, so are more commonly surveyed later in the open hole. Data from open hole surveys is typically less accurate and risks tool loss downhole so not ideal and can be costly. This can cause project delays and be expensive using specialised downhole directional service providers. Huge time and cost savings can now be made simply by running the SlimGyro directly through the rods.....and because the tool is unaffected by magnetics, there is no need for expensive stainless steel rods to deal with. The tool can also be used in any standard diamond drilling applications and is particularly good for tighter navi sections. Raise Bores are another good application. The SlimGyro is proving to be highly popular in underground production blast hole surveying. Inside the standard 26mm brass running gear, the tool weighs in at only 3.5kg. This makes for easy uphole surveying with less user fatigue and increased productivity. GyroMax utilise a unique compact system for uphole surveying which includes the SlimGyro. No other survey system is as easy to use or as accurate for this application. For more information on the SlimGyro or the products we supply in support of the SlimGyro, please give us a call. We'd love to hear from you. #slimgyro #gyromax #surveying #underground #mining #rc #aircore #blasthole
There's a good reason why GyroMax use Handheld tablets to operate their range of directional survey tools..... because they stand up to the toughest of conditions. Lee Webb, GyroMax Business Development Manager, explains..... " GyroMax offer the advanced isGyro and SlimGyro MEMS directional survey tools for sale and rental into the mining, civil engineering and oil and gas sectors. All provide very challenging environments for modern technology. We use both the Handheld Algiz 7 and Algiz 10X to operate our survey tools because they can handle everything we throw at them. There would be no tougher environment than an operational underground mine surveying production blast holes. Dust, water, vibration, salt, bouncing around in the back of utes, you name it. The equipment cops a real battering. We have rental units that are still in service after more than 4 years in service. From a business perspective any manager would be delighted with the ROI. To put this into perspective, we have had desktop computers die in less time. There's a reason why GyroMax use Handheld products.....they just keep working." #handheld #Algiz7 #Algiz10X #Algiz #gyromax #isgyro #slimgyro #underground #mining |
